Our Private tour kicks off either early in the morning or in the afternoon so you can catch the magnificent coloring of the sky, while you soak up the scenic views of the Athens Riviera towards the second most popular attraction in Attica, the majestic Sounion, a promontory located 70 kilometers(43 miles) south southeast of Athens.

Pass through Athens’ suburbs of Palaio Faliro and Glyfada – both of them still retaining some of their former glamour as cosmopolitan resorts-, Vouliagmeni – with the rare geophysical Formation Lake which is included in Greece’s national NATURA 2000 network and as a Site of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the Ministry of Culture. The outline of the collapsed cavern roof can be clearly discerned from a distance. The bottom of the lake consists of silt substrate rich in sulfur compounds and it is famous for its medicinal properties. Finally admire the Saronic Gulf, seaside resorts, and villages as you follow the serpent coastal road south.

Upon arrival, explore the 5th-century B.C DoricTemple of Poseidon perched on top of a craggy hill overlooking the blue hues of the Saronic Gulf and the Aegean Sea. Listen as your guide narrates its history, including how it was dedicated to the god of the sea, Poseidon, and the myth of King Aegeas his son Theseus and the dreadful Minotaur.

During your outward or return journey (depending on selected departure) you can always enjoy a light meal in a traditional “Greek tavern”. Whether it is fish, light sea food specialties, souvlaki or a Greek dish, the choice is all yours.

Soak in the bright light or the sunset over the Aegean (depending on selected departure), and take panoramic photos before your tour concludes with a hotel drop-off.

Post Covid 19 Policy:

Vehicles will be sanitized before every pick up. Hand sanitizing done before departure and after every major stop. Pick up and drop off is included from all centrally located Athens hotels and apartments. Just inform us during the booking of the hotel you are staying at, or apartment address. If the hotel /apartment is not accessible (e.g narrowness, pedestrian area) we will appoint a nearby meeting point for picking you up. You will receive an email or text msg from us with the exact pick up time the day before the start of the tour.

What should I bring with me?

Since your visit includes a fair bit of walking, it is recommended that you

• Wear light hiking shoes or comfortable, rubber sole shoes
• During the summer months, bring along with you a hat, sun glasses, sunscreen and wear light-colored clothing
• Waterproof jacket/membrane (for the rainy days)
• Your own personal water bottle. As part of our environmental policy and actions, we are committed to eliminating the use of plastic water bottles.
• Prepare yourself for an exciting experience & bring along your camera so you can capture the amazing vista from atop Cape Sounio hill!

Can you pick us up from our hotel?

We offer a pick-up, free of charge, for hotels or apartments that are located in downtown Athens. For hotels or apartments outside city’s center we offer pick-ups with a 10% discount of the usual fair. Please send us an inquiry!

Is it difficult for older people to follow the group?

Not at all! The tour is private and totally customized to your needs. Should you chose so, you will be assigned an excellent, flexible guide and the walk will follow a moderate pace, in order to be a pleasant experience for everyone. We will also make several stops to admire and discuss the fascinating monuments and sites along our way.

Is it child friendly?

Very much so! Kids will learn about the Myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, about wise King Aegeas and many things for Temple of Poseidon that will make this tour an unforgettable experience for your little ones!

Is it available as a shore excursion?

Of course! You can have this tour customized to your personal schedule. We will gladly arrange transfers from and back to your cruise ship, in order for you to enjoy as much as possible during your short stay in Athens. Please send us an inquiry and we will get back to you as soon as possible!
